     Wednesday Night Back Porch Summer Circle ~ 6:30-8:00 p.m. 

    A circle for writers who like gathering with other writers to create/share original poetry and prose. No need for any summer reading to “get” the writing prompt. Arrive at 6 p.m. for "Happy Half Hour"   August 13  ~ 40.00

    SEPTEMBER 6 Writing Circle Workshop 11:30-5:30
    This circle is for perfect for those who can't commit to a series - also for writers who want to dive in before their regular circle begins.

    Part I: Bring new pages of writing for review (2 poems or 1 piece of prose up to 1200 words). This can be a piece you started in a Writing Circle that you want to expand, edit or deepen (or something you are working on outside the circle).

    Part II: Create new writing, either incorporating "flashpoints" from your first piece or prompts offered via images or poems that will be availabe to inspire your muse. This new piece of writing will be shared in the circle (if you wish).

    Part III: Setting specific intentions for your writing practice (do you want to write daily as a creative practice, explore Self, begin or continue a spirital journey? do you want to start a new writing project? do you want to complete a project you started by can't seem to finish?).

    Tuesday Circles (meets twice per month)

    21ST AVENUE WRITING CIRCLE: 5:30-7 p.m. / 1st and 3rd Tuesdays / Our focus is on the creative process. Many writers from this circle are featured in the Howlin’ After Dark Emerging Voices series. All writing is done within the circle. Fiction/Creative Nonfiction. Writers in this group have previous writing experience. FILLED (contact Merrill to be on the waiting list to attend when regular writers are out of town).  40.00 per session

    TRUE CONFESSIONS (women’s group): 6:30-8:30 p.m. / 2nd and 4th Tuesdays / the focus in this circle is to write from a deep and authentic place. Various topics will be explored. All writing is done within the circle. No writing experience required although comfort with journaling a plus.   50.00 per session


    Wednesday Circles (meets twice per month)

    MEMOIR CIRCLE: 1st and 3rd Wed / 12-1:30 p.m. / Explore your personal story. This circle explores new meanings that can be found within old stories. Memory and imagination take the writer into universal themes of life's odyssey. All writing is done within the circle.
    40.00 per session.

    JUST SAYIN'... (women’s circle) 2nd and 4th Wed / 2:45-4:15p.m. / No previous writing experience is needed to join in and write down what is on your mind. Just Sayin' seeks to free the writer to bring the truth of their experience onto the page. Various topics will be explored. All writing is done within the circle. Sharing is optional - but we hope you will. 40.00 per session

    CREATIVE SANCTUARY: 1st and 3rd Wed / 6:30-8:30 / This circle creates a safe space for women in the healing professions to explore the complexities of life and the depth of personal story through poetry and prose.  All writing is done within the circle. FILLED 50.00 per session

    DREAM WRITERS: 2nd and 4th Weds / 6:30-8:30 p.m. / Writers and dreamers of all levels are welcome to join this circle where your dreams become prompts to create poetry and prose. Each session one person shares a dream and invites other writers in the circle to riff off various images and themes inspired by the dream. All writing is done in the circle. Sharing is optional – but we hope you will. 50.00 per session


    Thursday Circles (meets twice per month)

    PLAYING WITH FIRE / MEMOIR:  1st and 3rd Thursdays / 5-6:30 p.m. / This circle is limited to four writers who bring in pages of personal nonfiction to be read to the circle. Each writer receives thoughtful reflection from the group. This circle creates a safe and confidential space to share personal story. Contact Merrill if interested in this therapeutic memoir circle 50.00 per session

    PLAYING WITH FIRE / FICTION:  1st and 3rd Thursdays / 6:40-8:40 p.m. / This circle is for writers working on projects for publication.  Various creative writing experiences take place within the first hour of each circle. Writers also bring in new pages (1200 words) created between circles to read to the group. Each writer receives insights on  "flashpoints" found within their stories to urge them toward deeper levels of creativity. FILLED (possible opening - contact Merrill for waiting list) 50.00 per session


    Saturday Circle (meets once per month)

    SATURDAY WRITING CIRCLE: This circle is for writers who want to bring in pages of original poetry or prose for monthly for review, as well as create new writing in the circle (incorporating various prompts to inspire your muse). Many writers who sign up for this circle have works in progress they hope to complete by doing the work of sharing, reviewing and writing within the circle.

     FALL SATURDAY CIRCLE: 12-3 p.m. ~  First Saturday of each month ~ 21st Avenue South

    OCTOBER/NOVEMBER/DECEMBER ~ 70..00 per session / 60.00 per circle if you commit to series of 3


     NOTE: Most circles run in cycles - when you sign up for a circle you are committing to the entire series with "one free miss" incorporated into each cycle. Payment for each session is payable at time of session via cash, check or credit card. Discount available for those wishing to pay entire balance at the first session.
